GMC: BRAND VALUE AND MODELS THAT MOVE

GMC can trace its roots back to 1900 as the Grabowsky Motor Company, which would subsequently be renamed Rapid Motor Vehicle Company in 1902. Started by two brothers, the company’s trucks would eventually catch the eye of General Motors, who would purchase the brand in 1909 and combine it with another truck manufacturer under their umbrella in 1912 to create the General Motors truck Company (GMC).

About GMC

We are Professional Grade

GMC would make themselves known by having their vehicles perform fantastic feats such as climbing Pikes Peak or driving multi-ton loads across the country. The company would produce a significant amount of vehicles during both WWI and WWII, further solidifying the capabilities of their trucks.

In the boom of the 50s and beyond, GMC would pivot to creating more luxurious trucks and SUVs that would appeal to both those that needed to get work done and those that simply wanted a leisure vehicle.

Today GMC maintains its position as GM’s luxury truck and SUV brand, building upon existing Chevrolet vehicles and elevating them to the next level.

GMC at Online Auctions: Most Popular GMCs

As the dedicated truck and SUV arm of General Motors, GMC knows a thing or two about the segment. That’s why their vehicles are great options within their respective niches, so it may be hard to know which of the various vehicles you should pay attention to during GMC auctions. Thankfully, we have created a list of some of the most popular GMC models you should pay attention to.

GMC Sierra

GMC Sierra

As GMC’s entry into the extremely popular full-size pickup vehicle segment, it has catered to buyers looking for a more luxurious experience. Building on the great foundation of the Chevy Silverado, the GMC Sierra excels at providing a great degree of customization for its customers, making it the brand’s best-selling vehicle.

A wide range of engine options includes a turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder making 310 hp, a 5.3L and 6.2L V8 making 355 hp and 420 hp, respectively, and finally, a torque-rich 3.0L six-cylinder turbodiesel.

GMC Terrain

GMC Terrain

Since 2009, the GMC Terrain has been the brand’s smallest offering, placed below the Arcadia. While it’s the smallest vehicle in the lineup, it is by no means lacking in space and will provide more than enough room for most owners.

Now in its second generation and the recipient of a facelift in 2022, the Terrain is powered by a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder that creates 175 hp and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard, but AWD can also be had on the Terrain.

GMC Yukon

GMC Yukon

For over two decades, the GMC Yukon has remained the brand’s most imposing vehicle. An enormous SUV with plenty of space and luxury inside, the Yukon is one of the best vehicles if you need to transport a lot of people in comfort.

Powering the Yukon is a choice of two V8s, a 5.3L and a 6.2L making 355 hp and 420 hp, respectively. For this generation, a new high-end trim level was introduced, the Denali Ultimate, which introduces nicer leather, open-pore wood trim, massage seats, and an 18-speaker sound system, among other luxuries.

GMC Hummer EV

GMC Hummer EV

For its electric revival, the Hummer is sold under the GMC brand. Keeping the enormous proportions and spirit of the original, the Hummer is now one of the most exciting electric vehicles on the market.

Three electric motors work in tandem to give the Hummer EV AWD and 1000 hp, rocketing the full-sized SUV to 60 mph in about 3.3 seconds. Towing capacity sits at about 7,500 pounds, and the range is a very impressive 329 miles.

Other GMC Models

The GMC line of vehicles extends past just the models we mentioned above. The brand creates plenty of desirable vehicles, particularly their Denali trim level, which is available on almost every model. This trim level is the brand’s highest and ensures that the vehicle you get is packed to the absolute brim with luxury.
