About Jeep
Jeeps have consistently been built for the roads less traveled
With the war over, Jeep turned its expertise to producing recreational vehicles for America’s burgeoning market. After the brand was sold to Kaiser Motors in the 50s, Jeep’s global presence grew rapidly. In the 70s, the brand would be sold again to American Motor Company (AMC). Eventually, AMC was purchased by Chrysler in the late 80s.
Today, the stand-alone brand continues to stick to its rugged outdoor roots, offering SUVs, crossovers, and pickups. With consumer preference highly skewing to these larger segments, Jeep is in a position to thrive. While the brand’s identity has always been utilitarian, recent efforts in the Wagoneer showcase a new luxurious offering at Jeep auctions.
Jeep at Online Auctions: Most Popular Jeeps
Worldwide supply issues have heavily affected Jeep online auctions. With inventories low, the already desirable Jeep models are now even more in demand. What are the most popular Jeep models? Here is our list.
Jeep Wrangler
A direct descendent of the World War II-era Jeep, the Wrangler birthed this automaker. Today, the Jeep Wrangler and its capabilities are synonymous with the Jeep brand. While many long-tenured automobile models see drastic evolutions in their designs and priorities, the Wrangler has remained steadfast over the decades. The current iteration is in its fourth generation and is found in an abundance of configurations. Engines range from a hybrid 2.0L four-cylinder to a monstrous 6.4L V8 Hemi. While the interior pays tribute to the design of earlier Jeeps, it is bundled in a more comfortable package.
Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee is actually the best-selling model in Jeep’s lineup. Introduced as a follow-up to the popular Cherokee, the Grand Cherokee was the first model produced by Jeep following its acquisition by Chrysler. The current fifth-generation Grand Cherokee steers itself more into the “refined” category over its Wrangler sibling. While it’s still capable of going off-road, the new Grand Cherokees are an even better experience on regular roads. With a wide range of trims, the interior can be as simple or as plush as one desires, leading to a significant amount of variation.
Jeep Compass
The Compass represents Jeep's more recent foray into the crossover market. Only in its second generation, the Compass is an excellent choice for those that don’t necessarily need the larger sizes found in Jeep's other offerings. Designed as a scaled-down Cherokee, the Compass is capable of many of the same off-road feats, just in a smaller size and more affordable price. This lower price makes the Compass a desirable option in Jeep online auctions.
